The first entry on the left page seems to be written differently than the others on the page.

Please translate the information written just before and after Christen Hansen.

Is it different because it's the first one on the page?

Gjester is a farm that keeps coming up but I can't find it in the census or bygdebok. Is it the same as Gisti?

Gjester is a surname, not a farm name, and has nothing to do with Gisti. But where the name comes from I do not know.

According to Oluf Rygh:" Norske Gaardnavne" there are farms named Gisti in Gjerdrum (in Akershus), Hole (in Buskerud) and Våler (in Hedmark)
A farm named Gjester in Sørum (in Akershus)

I know best the Gisti farm in Gjerdrum. Gisti has also been spelt Gjesti. And people from that farm has used surname Gjesti.

So I think that there could be a connection between Gjester as a surname and Gisti (Gjesti) as a farm name.

Given a farm Gjester in Sørum, Akerhus, it is likely that the surname Gjester stems from that farm. I have seen the name several times in Solør, and the use of Gjester there differs from the use of other farm names, since Gjester has become a stable surname independant of which farm they lived on. Also it seems to me that the "Gjesters" tend to be of a higher rank than a common farmer.
