Wilkes-Barre Times, Pennsylvania. Fredag 19 juli 1907, s 10:

Narrowly Escaped Death
Norwegian Boatman Nearly Burned Up and Drowned in Same Day

New York, July 19 - Ludwig Albu, a young Norwegian boatman, has as many lives as a cat, apparently. He proved it to-day when he narrowly escaped death in various forms. Albu is master of the sandscow Minnie, which was lying near a dock in Brooklyn when fire broke out in the cabin where he was asleep. Albu thought the heat due to the high temperature. Finally the smoke aroused him.
His only way of escape was a steep companionway which had already caught fire. He was half way up when the burning woodwork collapsed under him and he was precipitated into the fiery pit. Only his strength and agility then saved him. He made a tremendous leap, caught the edge of the hatchway and pulled himself up.
His clothes were burning, blazing up about his head when he finally pulled himself out of the burning cabin. He plunged headlong into the water, but was so badly burned and so exhausted that he would have drowned if two boatmen had not rescued him. At the hospital it is said that he will recover.
