Barna: Anne Mathea f 1855, Antonette f 1857, Ole f 1859, Karine f 1857, Gustav f 1863, Johan f 1865. nr 88 o.v.

Datteren Eline f. 12.8.1836 gifter seg i 1859. Finnes i FT 1865 med mann og barn. Etter det er de borte. Har de også dradd til Amerika?
http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/we ... 5875#nedre

In his autobiography Sverre Norborg tells as follow in my translation:
“ Mother and father was both born in 1871. A little south of their graves are mothers mother and father buried. This brings us back to 1829. There we loose my mothers family because mothers fathers father from Torginrud farm on Toten in the 1860ies was seized by America-fever. Once he sat out with wife and six grown up sons. The expedition went from Kristiania (now Oslo) to the Norwegian settlers possibly in Illinois or up in Wisconsin. They never wrote back.
The youngest boy in the Torginrud family did not go with them to America. The reason was that he a few years earlier had moved to Kristiania. There he had got himself a job and a wife. On the day the family left, he was standing waving good bye to his parents and brothers. He himself was not allowed to leave. The family chronicle later told that his wives mothers mother was a very resolute woman who did not allow that any of her children should go to the far and uncertain America. All this about my great grand mother is only verbal hand over, but the big picture of her made it clear that this was a lady that knew what she would.”
http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/We ... amn=f70301
In 1868 she departed from Christiania May 25th, and arrived at Quebec Aug. 17th. After 3 weeks at sea the ship had passed off Ireland and was hit by very strong contrary winds which forced her back past Scotland and in to the North Sea. The pumps started to fail, and the Captain took the ship in to port at Haugesund. There was no damage to the ship it self, and it soon proceeded on her way again. According to the newspaper notice the ship was carrying 290 passengers, mainly from the Toten and Vardal area. The New Brunswick arrived at Quebec with 286 passengers. In the magazine of "Solør Slektshistorielag", "Slækt og slekt", no. 2-2006. there is an article with some information given by Hans Eriksen, (b. 04.07.1849 in Grue). He emigrated on the "New Brunswick" in 1868, and gave some information about the voyage many year later (1921). According to his information, he remembered that 21 of the passengers had died during the crossing.
