http://www.digitalarkivet.no/cgi-win/we ... n=EMITROND
(Utreisen til Kristine i 1888 er også her)
Deres foreldre på Frøya er Oluf Sigvardt Halvorsen f. 11.11.1840 på Berget, Frøya
og kone Stina Margretha Christiansdatter f. 02.05.1844 Tuvnes Frøya.
All hjelp mottas med stor takk!
mvh.

Re: 3 søsken til Amerika
Hei
Hanna og Ludvik bruker her etternavnene Sigvaldsen Sørdal.

" I have found a document which Christina filled out and dated June 10th 1915. It asks "have you in the past 7 years consulted any person, physician regarding personal ailment?" She checked "Yes, Nov 3, 1913 to Dr. Frank Blagden,Canada -childbirth." My Dad was born Nov. 3, 1912. I don't know if she messed up on the year or what happened. This document also says she has 3 sisters and 3 brothers."

"They called her Christina her name was Tena on her birth certificate. My dad's dad died when he was 2 years old from typhoid fever. Tena was old when my dad was born, there was a rumor (from Aunt Hanna which was Tena's sister) that dad's dad and Tena had arranged for the maid to become pregnant with his child as Tena couldn't have children. This was told to my dad after Tena had passed away and there is no proof either way. We have tried to get records from Winnipeg to verify who the mother was( Tena or the other lady) but have been unsuccessful so far. It may not even be true." [--Source, Lori Dagel]

I have her christening certificate, its interesting because I have three documents for her with three last names. I dont have them translated but I'm sending them to get translated. One which is a christening certificate says Kristine Hausine, then there is Tena Severson, then there is an estate from Norway from Sigvartsen. Severson and Sigvarson could be the norwegian translation to a more American sounding name . On her citizenship she is severson."

Hi Lori!
I found your grandmother in the Norwegian 1900 online census. She was home
from Iowa, USA, visiting her mother and brother in Frøya, Norway. Frøya is
an island north of Kristiansund, west of Trondheim.
The spelling of the names vary, both for first names and surnames. In rural
Norway by that time they used real patronymics, referring to their father's
first name. But by the coast some people adopted the new habit of using a
family surname, and it looks like your family partly did so.

Re: 3 søsken til Amerika
Thank`s a lot to Bjørn, Vibeche and Margit. This is much more than I expected and hoped for. First I should tell a little why I`m searching.
My great grandmother was sister of the 3 that emigrated to America. (I`ve became interested when I notised that Kristine was married, wisiting Norway 1900/1901 and find out that there was 2 more children after Oluf and Stina emigrating 1900).
Father Oluf Sigvardt Halvorsen and mother Stina Margrethe Christiansdatter had these children:
1. Kristine Hansine born 5 of June (not 6 of Mai, in Norway we use date and month the opposite way)
2. Hans Henrik born 6 of June 1869 unmarried in 1900, took over and run the farm Sørdal in 1907 after his mother
3. Saras born 5. of Nov. 1871 died 22 . Jan 1883
4. Nikoline Lydia born 1. Jan 1874 d. 25. Jul. 1933 married Ole Olsen Skjærvik 1 Jan.1899. Ole was born 15. Mai 1874. They are my grandparents. They had 7 children incl. my grandmother Signe Gurine Skjærvik, married to Leif Jullumstrø. And they got 6 sons. Johan, Svend, Harald (my father), Roar, Arve and Tormod.
5. Hanna born 25. Jan. 1877
6. Ludvig born 13. Oct. 1879
7. Stina born 22. Mar. 1882 married 17. Apr.1906 to Anton Melkstadvik
I do know a lot about Nikoline Lydia and Ole Olsen Skjærvik`s anchestors and family, but I did not know that I have family from/after my great great grandfather/mother in America. Any dates, places etc. how to connect would be very interesting!!??
What about aunt Hanna and uncle Ludvig (sister and brother of Kristine Tena)?
Is there any records in census to find, wife, husband, children??
