Oddrun Staff f. 8/2 1890 i Montana.
Thomas Mathiasen Staff/Mathea Johannesdtr.Windju.
Fam. emigrerte i 1888 og hadde da med ei Oddrun f.1888
Her er fødselen:
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?i ... _side=-111
Tror denne Oddrun har dødd?? og at de har fått ei ny Oddrun i Montana .
Er takknemlig om noen kan hjelpe meg . Altså barna til Oddrun og Paul Montgomery.
Mvh. Karen Elise.

Name: Margaret Esther Felton
SSN: 517-07-2292
Last Residence: 59011 Big Timber, Sweet Grass, Montana
Born: 2 May 1918
Died: 3 Oct 2007
State (Year) SSN issued: Montana (Before 1951)
Raymond James Felton
BIG TIMBER - Raymond James Felton, lifetime Montana resident, farmer and Angus breeder passed away Saturday March 21, 2009, at the Pioneer Medical Center in Big Timber of natural causes, he was 93.
He was born on Nov. 1, 1915, the fourth of nine children born to Pruden and Sallie Borchardt Felton.
He attended school at Bear Paw through the seventh grade and lived with his grandparents in Havre to complete grade eight. He graduated from the Chinook High School in 1934.
While in high school he became interested in the law profession partly because of his admiration of his grandfather who was admitted to the bar and practiced law in the state of North Carolina before moving to the state of Montana. Also, because he had studied a course or two on Commercial Law and found them attractive. To that end he consulted a prominent attorney in his hometown regarding pursuing the profession but, due to the prevailing economy at that time and the fact he would have to complete a minimum of seven additional years of schooling, he decided to pursue other means of providing for himself.
One of his first responsibilities after high school was with the Blaine County Shipping Association. At the time before the days of large trucks and local auction markets, cattle were shipped via railroad to the eastern markets at St. Paul, Chicago, Sioux City or Omaha and had to be accompanied by someone. He was always a believer in the principle of people working together for their common good, so was often active in those types of activities. While in Chinook, he very successfully managed the Farmers Union Oil Company for three years, but about 1939 he had also purchased a farm in Lake County and by 1943 was feeling the urge to get back to working the farm so he moved to the western part of the state to do just that. During his years there he was active in and served as president of the Western Montana Dairy Breeders Association, the Western Montana Seed Growers Association and the Mission Valley Farmers Union Oil Co.
On July 3, 1939, he married Margaret Montgomery and together they had two sons, Maurice in 1942 and Richard in 1944. They had a beautiful herd of Jersey Cows and produced Grade A milk for some 20 years, selling the herd in 1968, this after selling their first farm in Lake County and purchasing a larger one in Missoula County in the Nine Mile area. It was also while there that Raymond purchased his first Angus cattle in the fall of 1950. He maintained the two enterprises until 1968 when another Grade A milk producer in the Bitter Root Valley purchased the dairy herd. While in that area he was active for many years in the Missoula County Weed Board.
Needing more room, a move was made to Sweet Grass County in 1969. Here the family was able to enlarge the Angus cattle herd and start the Felton Angus Ranch annual production sales. As the number of cattle grew so did the need to find more pasture, so property was purchased on the Tongue River in eastern Montana in 1996.
Raymond loved his family, all of his animals, working his land and always had a goal of leaving the soil better than he found it. He also loved music, dancing, traveling, keeping busy and getting his work done. He belonged to the Congregational Church and the Presbyterian Church, Doric Lodge #53 of Big Timber, Montana Farm Bureau, Farmers Union South Montana and the American Angus Association.
Raymond was preceded in death by his wife Margaret, parents, brothers; Purden, Robert, Thomas and his sister Annie.
He is survived by his sons, Maurice (Kathy) and Richard (Karol) of Ashland, grandchildren; Bill of Billings, Bobbi Jo (Scott) Boeh of Springdale, Kelly (Ben) Hursh of Missoula, Jim of Springdale, two great-grandsons; Layne Garret Boeh, Grant Henry Hursh and a great-granddaughter Greta Emmaline Hursh.
Viewing will be from 3-9 p.m. Thursday March 26, at Stenberg Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday March 27 at the First Congregational Church, 402 Anderson, in Big Timber. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
Memorials in Raymond's name may be made to Doric Lodge #53, Box 1111, Big Timber, MT 59011.
Arrangements by Stenberg Funeral Home.

Re: Oddrun Staff f. 8/2 1890 i Montana, U.S.A.
Felton, Margaret
BIG TIMBER - Margaret Esther Montgomery Felton was born May 2, 1918, in Chinook, to Paul and Oddrun Montgomery. She went to be with her Lord, Oct. 3, 2007, in Big Timber.
She attended schools in the Chinook area and met Raymond, the love of her life, at a country dance in Blaine County. They were married on July 3, 1939, in Ronan.
Margaret and Raymond managed the Farmers Union Oil Company in Chinook for several years, as well as having their first son, Maurice. They decided to try their hand at farming, with the purchase of 40 acres near Charlo. With this came Margaret's pride and joy, the herd of Jersey cows.
Their second son, Richard, was born at this time. Feeling the need to expand their operation, they sold the Charlo farm and moved to a bigger place west of Missoula in the Nine Mile Valley.
After the expansion took place and many more years of chasing Jersey cows, they decided to purchase some registered Angus cows to supplement the dairy herd. It wasn't too many more years and they made the switch to an all Black Angus herd, which still exists today.
The expansion itch struck again in 1969, when Raymond decided to move the operation east of the divide to Big Timber. A second ranch was purchased in 1971 near Springdale and is still owned today. As the future progressed, more land was sold and added to what is currently Felton Angus Ranch.
Margaret was a member of the Montana Chapter of the Eastern Star, the local Kill Kare Klub, active member of the Big Timber Congregational Church, lifetime member of the Montana Angus Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren as well as baking cookies for them, all four grandchildren having different favorites. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, family reunions, birds, especially meadowlarks, traveling and meeting new people.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Raymond; sons, Maurice (Kathy), Richard (Karol); grandchildren, Bill Felton, Bobi Jo (Scott) Boeh, Kelly (Ben) Hursh and Jim Felton; as well as two great-grandsons, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, and Sunday, Oct. 7, at Stenberg Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at the First Congregational Church of Big Timber. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607-1460; or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
