Re: Nikolai Sidolf Kuløy i USA
Fort Myers News-Press--4 Oct 2007 Coleen J. Wert went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 30, 2007, one day after her 87th birthday. Coleen had suffered the last 6 years with several debilitating illnesses. Bobbie Coleen Jones Wert was born September 29, 1920, in Camilla, Georgia to James Robert (died May 18, 1920) and Belle Harrell Jones. Coleen was the youngest of 6 children. In 1926, Coleen, with her widowed mother and brother Stanley, moved to Fort Myers to join her two older brothers, Harrell and Edison who were already living her with relatives, the Braden family. Belle Jones had accepted a teaching position at Edgewood Elementary and later taught at Fort Myers Junior High and Tice Elementary. Coleen attended Edgewood Elementary, Fort Myers Junior High and graduated from Fort Myers High School with the class of 1938. In 1942, Coleen graduated with honors from Bessie Tift College in Forsyth, GA and returned to Fort Myers where she taught English at Fort Myers High School for four years. In 1946, Coleen became a social worker with the State Department of Public Welfare (now Children and Family Services). She worked in Lee, Hendry and Collier Counties. Coleen retired in 1979 as Supervisor of Foster Care and Adoptions in Lee County. Coleen Jones and J. Earl Wert Jr. were married January 27, 1952, in Fort Myers. Earl died February 6, 1995, just a few days after their 43rd anniversary. Coleen loved the Lord and The First Baptist Church of Fort Myers, where she was an active member for over 70 years. During these years she was a Sunday School teacher, missions leader, volunteer at the Soup Kitchen, member of Senior Adult Group, volunteer in the church Activities Center and for 35 years helped in the baby nursery. Although the young people who grew up in the church may not remember Mrs. Wert, she loved and cared for them at the church when they were infants. Coleen is survived by son: James E. (Jane) Wert of Fort Myers, grandchildren Rebecca R. Wert of Tallahassee and John Andrew Wert of Fort Myers,
son Jack D. Wert (Ed Price) of Fort Myers and
brother Stanley (Nadine) Jones of Punta Gorda.
Supportive, concerned and caring describes her extended family:

nephews David (Gerry) Jones of Tellico Plains, TN;

Michael (Harriet Selkowitz) DeVoll of Richmond, VA; and
J. Mark Kulo of Fort Myers;
nieces, Nancy Ann Jones Clark (Ken) of Tallahassee and Celeste Willingham Clotfelter (Inmann) of Cartersville, GA. There are so many great nephews and nieces, and many great-great nephews and nieces. Coleen is survived by many cousins in Florida and Georgia including Carolyn Barden Smith of Port Charlotte. Coleen is also survived by many loving and caring lifelong friends. Coleen was predeceased by her parents, husband, in-laws, a sister, three brothers, three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, several close cousins and much loved niece, Carole Jones Pankow. A private family burial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Re: Nikolai Sidolf Kuløy i USA
Hi Margit - and thank you for helping - yes, he left his wife Karen in Norway. She married my granfather (2nd marriage) 18. July 1942. My grandmother died in 1938 and Karen was houskeeper before she married my grandad. But was she a widow? Died Nikolai, her husband, in US or Norway?
Re: Nikolai Sidolf Kuløy i USA
Ove Kulø is not a relative of Nikolai. He has to be a friend. Ove Sigfred Kulø was born in Kristiansund 17th sep 1899 and his twin brother died 5th Oct, the same day Ove was christened. Parents was Ludvig Ferdinandsen Hallerø and Anna Berntine Berntsen, but it seems they had taken the Kulø-name in Kristiansund. They lived in the same street as Nikolai in Kristiansund.
Re: Nikolai Sidolf Kuløy i USA
Maybe Margit can find anything about him - his name written a Nicholas Kulo - married to Georgia Rudisill in Illinois - and they lived in Iowa and Wisconsin - and it seems like he listed in as a soldier in 1943 and later emigrated to Liverpool...?

Re: Nikolai Sidolf Kuløy i USA
