"In the South Dakota marriage index Caroline is listed as Karoline Kristine Nelsen, age 36, married 14 Apr 1915 in Esmond, Kingsbury County, SD to Ole Olsen Dahlin. They had one son, Oscar Edwin, who died at age 2, in 1918 in Green County, WI. By the 1920 census, they were living in Waddams Township in Stephenson County, Illinois. This census also lists an adopted child, Bernard, age 4. Caroline's obituary does not mention this child and nothing further is known about him. Her death record in Stephenson County indicates her burial in the "Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery" but does not specify a location. However, the obituary indicates her burial in East Wiota Cemetery. Her name but no dates appear on the Dahlin family stone."
