Erik H. Jorgensen, 66, of Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2008, after a brief battle with adrenal cancer. He will be missed by his loving wife of 42 years, Linda, his daughter, Erika, and many friends.

Erik was born in Oslo, Norway, in 1942, and lived in Lillehammer, Norway, until immigrating to this country in 1950. He lived in the Midwest until 1955, when his family moved to The Dalles, Oregon. He graduated from The Dalles Senior High School in 1961, Oregon Institute of Technology in 1963, and received B. A. and M. A. degrees from Southern Oregon College in 1969 and 1971. After graduation, Erik taught elementary grades in the Eagle Point and Ashland School districts. He received his School Administration Credential from The University of Oregon in 1974 and became principal of Bellview Elementary School in Ashland, Oregon, a position he held for the next 27 years.

Erik married his high school sweetheart, Linda Libby, in Reno, Nevada, in 1966. In 2001, Erik and Linda retired and built a home at Salishan on the Central Oregon Coast where they lived for the next five years. While at Salishan, Erik renewed an interest in watercolor painting, enjoyed hiking and beachcombing, and sang in the community choir.

In 2006, Erik and Linda moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, to be near their daughter. Erik loved all things automotive and enjoyed attending Scottsdale car shows and talking cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hans C. and Myrtle Jorgensen. He is survived by his wife, Linda, and his daughter Erika. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2008, at Paradise Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Scottsdale, Ariz. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ, 85014-5656 or The Arizona Animal Welfare League, 15 N. 40th Pl., Phoenix, AZ, 85034-1801. Arrangements by Messinger Mortuary.

Not all my questions Margit, I have some more

Myrtle Haug and her son Erik Haug left Norway in 1950. I can not find that the husband and father, Kolbjørn J. Haug, ever left Norway. And I can't find when and where Myrtle was married to Hans C. Jorgensen.
This is the reason for my little question earlier (sorry that it was i Norwegian, I guess that is the reason for your "?????????????????" Easier for me to understand what you mean if you write some words instead. If you don't read/write Norwegian then just tell me and I will try to make myself understood in English. Your name made me belive that you are Norwegian.)

Dette er den riktige Hans såvidt jeg kan skjønne. Jeg finner imidlertid ikke hans ekteskap med Myrtle, men jeg tror de giftet seg i USA. Myrtle og sønnen Erik (da med etternavn Haug) reiste med Stavangerfjord til USA i 1950. Senere finner jeg henne i USA med etternavn Jorgensen og sønnen har da Haug Jorgensen som etternavn. Ektemann er da Hans C Jorgensen. Men ekteskapet finner jeg som sagt ikke.

It must have happend in USA after 1950

Jeg tror ikke Hans som kom til Amerika i 1947 er den rette. Han var soldat under krigen i USA. Da er en venn oppnevnt som nærmeste pårørende, ikke ektefelle. Det er mange med dette navnet. Ekteskapsinngåelsen finner jeg ikke på ancestry.com. Heller ikke noe om dødsfallene i avisene, men det kan kanskje andre finne som har tilgang på flere aviser enn jeg.

Where is the 1910 census with both Myrtle and her sister?

Also...why does Myrtle need to be naturalized in Oregon...if she was born in the USA?
Did she give up her US citizenship at some point??
