Christian (Chris) Needrum
Mr. Chris Needrum, beloved husband of Mrs. Lillian Needrum of Medicine Hat, AB, formerly of Weyburn, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2000 at the age of 84 years. Chris also leaves to cherish his memory, one son Robert Needrum of Okotoks, AB; two daughters Carol (Wes) Budd of Okotoks; and Marilyn (Kirt) Baker of Tisdale; one granddaughter Elizabeth Budd; one sister, Mabel Cale of Cranbrook, B.C.; five nieces; and five nephews. Chris was predeceased by his parents, John and Marie Needrum; five brothers; and two sisters. Chris was born July 4, 1915 northeast of Hatton, SK. He attended Lake Lillian and Hatton Schools. After working for J.W. Wilson Ranch, Chris started work for the federal government with P.F.R.A. for 37 years, 15 years of that was spent with the Water Management Department. He lived in various towns during his years with the federal government including: Maple Creek, Swift Current, and Weyburn, where he was supervisor for community pastures. In 1977, Chris and Lillian retired to Medicine Hat. He enjoyed fishing and playing pool. Chris was a member of the Masons, I.O.O.F., Eastern Star, and Rebekah Lodge, which he spent many enjoyable hours. Those wishing to pay their respects did so at the Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel, Medicine Hat, Sunday, Jan. 30 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. and on Monday, Jan. 31 from 9 a.m.-2:25 p.m. The funeral service was held in the Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel Monday, Jan. 31 at 2:30 p.m. with Reverend Helen Reid officiating. Interment followed in the family plot at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery, Medicine Hat. As an expression of sympathy, those wishing to remember Mr. Chris Needrum may do so with a gift to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102, 73-7th Street SE, Medicine Hat, AB, T1A 1J2 or to the charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel and Crematorium, Medicine Hat.
