Christian Øien, emigrert til USA i 1870?

Min forfar Christian Øien mistet sin kone i februar 1870 i Kristiansund, og skal i følge kirkeboken i Kristiansund ha reist til USA sammen med sin bror Søren Christian og hans kone og barn. Her er en transkribering av det som står: Snedker Christian Christophersen Øien, nu i 33te Aar, Enkemand; hans 3 Børn ere igjen her, og Skrædder Søren Christian Christophersen Øien og Kone Lydia Augusta Nordtvedt, med sønnene Christian Gunerius (f. 2/11-67) og John Tiller (f. 8/7-69) er utflyttet til Amerika i 1870.

Jeg finner en Christian Øien med alder 36 i august 1870. Jeg tror det er broren Søren Christian som reiser med sin familie. Christian var født i 1838, og dermed 32 i 1870. Broren søren Christian var født i 1833, så det stemmer med alderen.

Men Christian Christophersen Øien født 1838 på Frei finner jeg ikke noen steder, verken i Norge på en båt til USA eller i USA. Er det noen som har noen gode tips på hvor jeg kan lete?

That might be him, yes - is there any way to find out where he was born? He was a carpenter when he left Norway.

Might be him. On one other realtive in the US I was able to find the application for naturalization - it had more information. The name isn't unusual enough to be sure it's the right Christian Christophersen, I think.
