Hei. Driver på med å få på papir heile min utvida familie, og har funne tre brødre som var fettere til min oldefar. Dei emigrerte alle til USA på slutten av 1800-talet, ifl. mi grandtante alle tre for å bli prestar, men eg klarer ikke å finne noko detaljar på to av dei.

Brødrene heitte Bernt Johan (f. 1870), Sjur (f. 11 mar 1872), og Jon (f. 1875), og det er berre Sjur eg har funne noko på. Han dukka opp i Minnesota under navnet Severt Johnson, og døydde her 26 mai 1950, men eg har ikkje lukkast i å finne noko info om dei to brørne hans, og lite info om etterkommarane til Sjur. Er det nokon som har tips til kjelder eg kan bruke?

Hello! I am currently working on a family tree of my extended family on my fathers side, and have discovered three cousins of my great-grandfather who emigrated to the US in the latter of the 19th century.

The three brothers were named Bernt Johan (b. 1870), Sjur (b. 11/03/1872) and Jon (b. 1875), and so far I've only found info on Sjur. He appeared in Minnesota where he settled down under the name of Severt Johnson and died here on May 26, 1950, but I have yet to find any details on his two brothers.

I have tried using MyHeritage, but the only two people with connections to these persons are inactive users and thus I cannot get access to their trees.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Yes, their parents names were Ola Jonsson Fjellandsbøle (b. 1847 - d. 1928) and Guri Bjørgen (b. 1841 - d. 1916).

Sources say they left in or around 1894.

Where did they leave from?

Not sure, but most likely from somewhere in Hordaland, possibly Bergen.

Exact birthdates??

No, only Sjur/Severts, which I stated in my previous post.

Born where in Norway?

They were born on the farm Bjørgjo in the county of Skånevik, Western Norway.

Severt Johnson died where in Minnesota in 1950? Where is he buried? Where is he living in all the census records?

He died and was buried in Odin, Minnesota, and according to the few sources I have he lived here for most of his life.

At John O. Johnson er Bernt Johan stemmer nok. Iflg. tanta til far min, så var dei på besøk her når ho var liten, og då fortalde dei at Bernt Johan tok navnet "Johnson" og Jon tok navnet "Bjørgen" slik at dei ikkje skulle forvekslast, sidan begge hadde tatt fornavnet "John".
