Valborg Elizabeth Smith, 94, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 6, 2002. A memorial service will be held in Minnesota at a later date. Burial will be in Carlston Cemetery in Alden, MN.
Mrs. Smith was born Aug. 30, 1908, in Alden, MN, the daughter of Carl and Maren Raun Mathiasen.
She was a secretary to the business manager of the Lansingburgh Board of Education, and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, MN.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew and Doris Smith of Fairfield Glade, and Ronald and June Smith of Shrewsbury, PA; sisters, Betty Brandt of Tyler, MN, Hilda Duncan of Alden, MN, and Dagmar Jacobson of Rice Lake, WI; brother and sister-in-law, Anker and Ardis Mathiasen; sister-in-law, Stella Mathiasen of Alden; grandchildren, Karl Smith of Melbourne, Australia, Valerie Smith of Tucson, AZ, Danielle Hale of Wynanskill, NY, Christopher and Nicole Smith of Plattsburgh, NY, and Ward Smith and Andrew Smith, both of Timonium, MD; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew J. Smith Jr.; sister, Astrid; brother, Arnold Mathiasen; and grandson, Kenneth Smith.
Crossville Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. was in charge of local arrangements.
