Ida Josephine Nilsdotter b. 1855 Södra Vi, Småland, Sweden

After years of researching in Sweden I now for the first time need to do some research in Norway and need some help.

Ida Josephine NIlsdotter was born in Södra Vi, Kalmar län, Sweden 1855-05-08. At the age of 13 she leaves her home to work at a farm in Värmland. After some years she moves to Kristiania, Norway.

I have found Ida in the Folketelling 1875 in Kristiania: http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/ft ... 2055062904

In 1878 a girl is born out of wedlock in Kristiania. Her name is Mathilde Hansen and the mothers name is Ida Nilsdotter. https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/5824/136

I believe the two Ida Nilsdotters are the very same persons, but I want this to be confirmed.
How can I verify if the mother of Mathilde Hansen born 1878 is the same Ida Nilsdotter as in 1875 folketelling, or not?

Mathilde and her mother later moves to US. Where they live in Brooklyn. I have tried to trace them back to Norway without being able to confirm that the tow Ida Nilsdotters are the same person. Ida and Mathilde are found in the US Census. Different censuses state that Ida came to US 1885, 1886 and 1889. In censuses her familyname is Nielsen and Pettersen. Pettersen from her marriage in US. I have not yet been able to find her in any passenger lists, immigrant or emigrant records. Ida Nilsdotter is in the census said to be born in Sweden out of Swedish father and mother. Her age matches Ida Nisldotter from Södra Vi. But when Ida marries in US she has stated a name on her father that does not match the name of the father of Ida Nilsdotter born in Södra Vi.

Hi

The book of baptizm (dåpsboka) from Rikshospitalet gives us the age of Matilde's mother Ida Nilsd. Ida is said to be 22 years old, which matches your Ida.

Thanks Vivi,

This for sure strengthens the case!
Is this as much I can hope on from Norwegian sources to confirm it is the same Ida? Or are there other possibilities such as 'mantal'?

Hi

Here is Mathilde's grandson asking about Mathilde and other relatives in 2014.

Thanks again Vivi,

This adds a lot of information to Mathildes father and some later relatives.

I am still curious on whether there are other type of sources normally used in norwegian research that could help me confirm that Ida Nilsdotter born 1855 in Södra Vi is the mother of Mathilde Hansen born 1878 in Kristiania?

For example I saw in these links that a Bygdebok was used to identify Helik Hansen as the father of Mathilde. How do I find the Bygdebok for the part of Kristiania that Ida Nilsdotter lived in?
