Hi Brian
You also asked for the marriage of Rolf Walter's parents.
They married Nov 18, 1898 in a civil marriage.

Re: Rolf Walter Stenberg
I think there are some descendants living. If you are interested, give me a message, and I send you a PM.

Re: Rolf Walter Stenberg
Hi Vivi,
Thank you very much for the information on Aagot and the link to the tool! It will be a big help!
Maybe you can help me here also....
In this 1900 census for Horton, the last family, Inga Elisabeth Nilssen is the sister of Gurine Abigail Skjelbred.
http://www.rhd.uit.no/folketellinger/ft ... 019&lnr=04
She was born "Inga Elisabeth Andersen Skjelbred" on 22 Nov 1876 in Stavern, Vestfold.
Birth #38
Kildeinformasjon: Vestfold fylke, Stavern, Ministerialbok nr. 7 (1840-1877), Fødte og døpte 1876, side 63.
Permanent sidelenke: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?i ... x_side=-65
I am trying to find the birth records for her children, Edle and Nilsine.
Inga and the family left Norway for New York in 1906:

Re: Rolf Walter Stenberg
Hi
I have not been able to find any record for Inga and her family, sorry.
They all and a new child live in Brooklyn in the US 1910 census, but I guess you know that:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/M57P-7VH
Nilsine Beate is noted as a Methodist in the 1900 census:
http://digitalarkivet.no/cgi-win/webcen ... =4537#ovre
If the family belonged to the Methodist church in Horten I guess they might have Nilsine's baptizm there (I don't find it on-line):
http://www.visithorten.com/attraksjoner ... o&id=21040
Edle is noted as a member of the State church and should therefore have been baptized, but I haven't found it. (Still looking)
Where did you find the baptizm of Ester Marie and Ernst Ingemann?

Re: Rolf Walter Stenberg
Hi Vivi,
Thank you so much for your help! I have not found the baptisms of Ester Marie or Ernst Ingemann, but am still looking. I did not want to ask you too many things.... you have helped me so much already!
You might be right about the methodist church in Horten. Here is the marriage of
Nilsine's parents at family search:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N718-CQ4
They were married in Horten on 22 Jan 1898 - but I can not find the record in the online archives. Maybe it is the same with the birth of Nilsine. The 1900 census shows them living in Horton, but they returned to Oslo about then also.
Yes, I do have the 1910 census for Brooklyn:
Ethel = Edle
Nellie = Nilsine
Hilsen,
Brian

Hi
Here is the marriage between Inga and Per.

This means Edle was born out of wedlock if birthdate July 15, 1895 is correct.

Re: Rolf Walter Stenberg
Hi Vivi,
Thanks again. Yes, Edle was born out of wedlock.
Now I know I should have looked in "dissentere". See, I am learning from you!
Per Johan Nilsen was a blacksmith, I can read that. Can you read where he came from in Sweden? I was told he came from Halmstad - but that says something else. I did look through the birth recordes in Halmstad and he is not there.

Re: Rolf Walter Stenberg
Hi Brian
Sorry, I'm not able to read his birthplace. His father is Husmand med Jord Nils Peerson (or Persson, not sure).
We are also told they were wed in a civil marriage by Byfogden.
I also read that he (Per) belonged to the swedish State church and she to the State church.
On the board called "Hjelp til tyding av kildemateriale" there are some quite amazing readers of old handwriting. You might post it there and ask if someone can read his birthplace.
