Bygdebok for Asker?

Legg inn av dn09189 » 29 sep 2008 05:57:45

Is there such a book for this area (Østre Bærum). I am looking for information on the Dahli farm or Knabberud (which is mentioned in Thorvald's confirmation in 1900). Thorvald Anfin Haakonsen was born in 1886. Parents are Engebret Theodor Haakonsen, b. 1856 and Kristine Nielsdatter, b. 1861 (from baptism of Thorvald).
I am trying to find Theodor and Kristine's marriage record and if there are any other children. I can't seem to find them in the 1900 census (I think I have found Thorvald! in Bærums at 14 on his own). Also when they might have left for America (I'm presuming before 1900 although leaving a son behind makes little sense to me!).
Thorvald goes to America in 1910 and it says on his entry to the States he is going to his father's place in Minnesota.

Hi again,

I think you can find Engebret Theodor here in the census of 1875. I could not find any good candidate for his wife-to-be and not any marriage either in my quick scan of the church books. This COULD mean that she is not from the Asker/Bærum area. Traditionally people got married in the brides home church so ...

The book "Bærum. En bygs historie" part 1 from 1920 does not mention these people under any of the 2 Dæli's, but it only contains the owners and their close family...

regards, Per Harald

Knabberud - I believe that is what we call a "husmannsplass".

There are some books about such cotter's places in Bærum:

Mohus, Arne
Husmannsplasser i Bærum / ved Arne Mohus i samarbeide med Bærum bibliotek. -
Bekkestua : Bærum bibliotek, 1988-1996. - 4 b. : kart.

Knabberud is near the Dælivannet lake. This lake is famous because many Norwegian painters painted there in the summer of 1886.

What does the Bekkestua in the book mean?
Husmannsplasser i Bærum / ved Arne Mohus i samarbeide med Bærum bibliotek. -
Bekkestua : Bærum bibliotek, 1988-1996. - 4 b. : kart

It was said that Engebret Theodor Haakonsen was born at Bekkestua but that seems to be a farm in another area, Buskerud or Vestfold???
I presume it is a town but not sure.
Thank you for the info.

Hello

Bekkestua is in Bærum, it is where the Bærum public library (Bærum bibliotek) is located.

Engebret Theodor's baptism records is here in the records for Østre Bærum in Asker parish ("klokkerbok"), no. 43 - at the bottom of the page. Parents are Haagen Pedersen and Kirstine Hansdatter, Dæhli

PS

The church for Østre Bærum is Haslum kirke (often abbreviated H.K.). It is a medieval church.
