Hello,
My great-great grandmother Helga Christiansdatter was born out of wedlock to parents Christian Olsen and Oline Marie Tolevsdatter on 11 Jun 1847 where I believe is Lysager. See Akershus county, Asker, Parish register (official) nr. I 7 (1825-1864), Birth and baptism records 1847, page 271b. http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?i ... _side=-276
I would like to find the date and place of birth of her father Christian Olsen, and his parent's names. However, it looks like there are many, many people born Christian son of Ole in the Aker parish records during this time. I cannot read the parish records very well, but it looks like in Helga's birth record it says he is Christian Olsen Wold øvre.
Do you have any ideas where I can find Helga's father? FamilySearch does not have anything.
I also could not find Helg'a confirmation record. Any guidance or assistance you could provide witih that would be appreciated as well.
After Helga's birth, the next record of her I have is in the 1865 Census working as a servant in Kongsvinger. See http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/we ... k=343#ovre
She comes back to Oslo to marry Karl Johan Andreasen on 24 Oct 1874. See Oslo county, Grønland, Parish register (official) nr. 5 (1869-1880), Marriage records 1875, page 287. http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?i ... _side=-281
Helga and husband Karl Johan are in the 1875 Census living on Lakkegade 45 in Oslo. See http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/we ... 69200#ovre
Thank you for reading my post. Any help or guidance you could provide would be appreciated.

Hi
The words "Wold, øvre" only tells us that Christian lived at Wold, øvre when Helga was baptized. I think this farm/place belonged to Fossum Jernværk (ironwork) in Østre Bærum so he probably was a worker there at the time. People came from all over Norway to work there so it is very difficult to find the correct Christian Olsen.
However I have one suggestion.
Some names were important in a family and there is another Helga baptized in Asker with father Christian Olsen.
She is born in wedlock to Christian Olsen and Elen Knudsdatter. They live at the farm Thorstad.

If he is the father of your Helga is difficult to verify. Illegitimate children were not mentioned in probates, no 128:

Helga Christiansdatter was a servant in the house of the famous author Jonas Lie. (At least famous in Norway)

Thought it might be interesting for you to know that -

If this is Helga's mother remarried to Hans Johannesen.

Perhaps Helga moved with her mother to Grønland Parish and was confirmed there.
She was later married in Grønland Parish and settled there. (Close to her mother?)
Another possibility is that she was confirmed at Kongsvinger while she worked for J.Lie.

Thank you, Vivi! Your idea that Helga's name could have been used again by her father is very interesting and something I had not thought of. Thank you for sharing and providing the links to the parish records.

Re: Helga Christiansdatter born 11 Jun 1847
Hello Leif! Thank you for the good ideas on where Helga may have been confirmed. It certainly makes sens that she would move close to her mother. I will look through the parish records in both Grønland and Kongsvinger to see if I can find her.
