The following was taken from a series of rootsweb.com websites,
including "Kith & Kin: McKenzie, Blythe, Branch, & Bartlett," "A.G.P.
Relatives, Relations, & Connections: Local, Regional, & Historical,"
"legocki," "Neal Family," and "Hyatt/Yarnall Family Tree," and then
put together with p. 382 of "The Royal Descents of 500 Immigrants to
the American Colonies or the United States" by G.B. Roberts:

1. Henry I of England
2. (illegitimate by Sybil Corbet) Reginald FitzRoy or de Mortain,
Earl of Cornwall = Mabel FitzWilliam
3. Maud FitzReginald = Robert de Beaumont, Count of Meulan
4. Maud de Beaumont = William de Vernon, 5th Earl of Devon
5. Mary de Vernon = Sir Robert Courtenay
6. Sir John Courtenay = Isabel de Vere
7. Sir Hugh Courtenay = Eleanor le Despencer
8. Eleanor Courtenay = Henry Grey, 1st Baron Grey of Codnor
9. Richard Grey, 2nd Baron Grey of Codnor = Joan FitzPayn
10. Robert FitzPayn (formerly Grey), Baron FitzPayn = Elizabeth de
Brian
11. Isabel FitzPayn - Richard Poynings, 3rd Baron Poynings
12. Joan Poynings = Sir Richard Camoys
13. Margaret Camoys = Ralph Radmylde
14. Margaret Radmylde = John Goring
15. John Goring = Joan Hewster
16. John Goring = Constance Dyke
17. Constance Goring = Sir John Kingsmill
18. Mary Kingsmill = Edward Goddard
19. Bridget Goddard = William Cordray
20. Bridget Cordray = Samuel Ironmonger
21. William Ironmonger of Va. = Elizabeth Jones
22. Frances Ironmonger = Mordecai Cooke, Jr.
23. Mordecai Cooke (III) = Elizabeth Buckner
24. Jemima Cooke = Capt. Thomas Chilton
25. John Chilton = Letitia Corbin Blackwell
26. George Chilton = Mary E. Ball
27. John Chilton = Ellen Stewart
28. Mary Ann Chilton = William Stewart
29. Letticia Jane Stewart = Lanson McGuire Neal
30. Adeline Verinda Neal = Charles C. McCord
31. Hazel Vorice McCord = Loren Van Dyke
32. Richard Wayne "Dick" Van Dyke, born West Plains Missouri 13th
December 1925.

I make no claim to the accuracy of what has been presented. Those of
you out there who are "professional genealogists," as well as kith and
kin, Dick Van Dyke fans, and the like, may wish to examine the line
for errors.

My role here has been strictly one of trying to connect someone with
someone.

The Cooke, Ironmonger, and Buckner families also appear in the
ancestry of the actress Glenn Close, through her maternal grandmather
Elizabeth Taliaferro.

The Ball family shown is apparently the same Virginia family that
produced Mary Ball, mother of George Washington.

Numbers one through 22 are correct. I know nothing about 23 and later.
One through 22 are well documented by an article by Paul Reed.

I lied. I did know about 22-24 but wanted to check.

The ancestry of Jemima Cooke is dubious. Almost everyone
claims she is a descendant of Frances Ironmonger
and Mordecai Cooke II (aka Jr.). There is no doubt that she
is the daughter of SOME Mordecai Cooke and some Elizabeth
Buckner. But some claim that her dad Mordecai is the
son of #22 Mordecai and others that her mother is the daughter of
#22 Frances and a Buckner, and yet others that her parents
were both children of #22 Mordecai (yes, incest, but these
people never notice!).

This is discussed in the rootsweb Cooke group under ... you
guessed it ... the subject "mordecai confusion in VA".

I'm a descendant of a different child of #s 22, and all the
Buckner confusion makes it a mess to figure out what is right,
though my line is reasonably clear due to deeds and wills
and the fact that the people lived next door to each other.

Numbers 23 to 26 are correct per the series of articles, _The Chilton
Families_, published in _The Virginia Genealogist_ by John F. Dorman. Mr.
Dorman lists the wife of 25 as Letitia Blackwell, daughter of Joseph and
Lucy (Steptoe) Blackwell.
