I have the following line :

Sir Robert Menzies, of Weem, mentioned in 1520
marriage contract dated 22 November 1503 to Lady Christian Gordon, daughter of Alexander, 3rd Earl of Huntly and Lady Janet Stewart
parents of

Alexander Menzies, mentioned in 1557, married Janet Campbell, of Lawers, daughter of James Campbell of Lawers and Marion Forrester
parents of

James Menzies, mentioned 1588, marriage contract dated 20 May 1536 to Lady Barbara Stewart, daughter of John Stewart, 3rd Earl of Atholl, and Grizel Rattray
parents of :

1.Sir Alexander Menzies, of Menzies, died in 1624 (was he married? Did he have children?)
2.Duncan Menzies, of Comrie, mentioned in 1615 married Mary Campbell, they are the parents of Barbara Menzies who on 18 August 1638 married Janes Stewart of Wester Cluny

So far so good. I am trying to find a link to the following Menzies

Sir Alexander Menzies, of Weem, Perthshire, who was living 15 June 1643, he married a third wife Marjory Campbell and they are the parents of

Alexander Menzies of Rotmell, living 21 April 1659
wife unknown

Can anyone extend these details? This is all I have.

With many thanks

All is good, except for the lack of data about Sir Alexander. You seem
to have made two Alexanders of one. Alexander may have died in 1644.
He married first Margaret Campbell (d 8 September 1598), daughter of
Sir Duncan Campbell, 1st bt and Lady Jean Stewart, with the marriage
contract dated 10 December 1588. They had no children.

Alexander secondly married Elizabeth Forrester (d 10 November 1613),
the daughter of Sir John Forrester of Carden. Their children were:
1 John Menzies (d before 1623, apparently unmarried)
2 Duncan Menzies, who succeeded his father (d 1656) and married Lady
Jean Leslie and had issue the later Menzies of Menzies and baronets of
Weem

Alexander married thirdly to Marjory Campbell, daughter of Alexander
Campbell, Bishop of Brechin and Helen Clephane. They had many
children, including your Alexander Menzies of Rotmell.

I should also have noted that Alexander "The Poet"'s family held both
Menzies and Weem before him, so maybe that is where the confusion of
"of Menzies" and "of Weems" comes into play.
