Hi, I get tired of reading posts that have the paragraphs of the last, and
they keep adding to the next post. The same paragraphs and add on more and more.
If you gentlemen are Scholars, you should know better. It would be easier
reading. Isn't there an editor for this group? Also I am on Digest. But I still
get several postings a day. I thought Digest was for once a day. Here I think
its once an hour.

On the contrary this is a good discipline. It encourages you to read
the material to which you are replying and to reply On Topic.
The advantage of a long sequence of contributions is that you can
follow the argument without having to dig up previous posts from your
machine, if you have stored them, that is.
However there is an argument that material that is not relevant to your
reply should be deleted, in the interests of brevity.
Finally you will note that there are many different practices in
continuing a thread:
1. Delete everything and only write what you want.
2. Leave the previous post and write all your material at the top.
3. Leave the previous post and write all your material at the bottom.
4. Interleave your replies with the original, using right-facing
chevrons to show who has written what (most mailing software will
handle the latter automatically).
Personally I prefer number four but it is, as they say, a free country
and all are tolerated here.
Never! Some newsgroups are Moderated which means that every
contribution has pass through a Moderator's hands before publication,
causing delays not to mention requiring one or two chaps to be
constantly at our disposal to do the work. But this does not allow the
Moderator to edit. And in any case there is no support for this group
to be Moderated, as has been discussed on several occasions before.
(And I have snipped the bit about Digests as I know nothing about such
as I do not use the mailing list form of this newsgroup. I suspect
your problem is with Rootsweb, not with the people who contribute here.)

One of the trick to reading threads is to read them backwards as most
replyers will quote the original message. Another rule of thumb is to make
some effort to post your replys at the end of the quoted message so that
peeps who read a post don't have to go out of their way to figure out the
sequential order of numerous replies within a single post. As you may
already know, a reply can have a quote of a quote of a quote, and so on,
giving the effect of a chat room.
