Looking for a group consensus re: the parentage of Agatha, the wife of
Edward the Exile (1016-1057), son of King Edmund Ironsides. I have always
had her as the daughter of Ludolphe of Saxony by Gertrude von Egisheim;
however, Miroslav Marek's page
(http://genealogy.euweb.cz/note/agatha.html#E) says she was the daughter of
Saint Vladimir of Kiev (958-1015) and his last wife, the daughter of Duke
Konrad of Swabia.
Opinions, or is this now the accepted version? .

RE: Agatha, wife of Edward "the Exile", styled Atheling of E
Personally, I favor William Humphrey's last article in _Foundations_,
wherein one can adduce Agatha was the daughter of Jaroslav the Wise and
Anna of Byzantium, thus making her a descendant of the Emperor Romanus,
rather than a descendant of any western Roman Emperor. Certainly a
theory worth considering, and one I encouraged him to pursue it more
robustly than what found it's way into print. William seems content to
let others pick up that gauntlet, such as myself and, or Mr. Sklar.
Cheers,
Phil
