Question about Eleanor (Wife of John Whitbread & Mother of A

This is my first posting to the newsgroup, although I feel I know so many of
you already by reading your messages imbedded in notes to genealogies on
World Connect Project.

I am a descendent of Alice Whitbread, born ~1579 in Bedfordshire, England.
From my research I understand her father was John Whitbread and her mother
was Eleanor. Many sources speculate that Eleanor (born ~1554) was the
illegitimate daughter of Edward Radcliff of Elstow, Kent. However, this
claim does not appear to be firmly supported. I was ready to write off
continuing with this line after all that I had read, but a new wrinkle
recently came up.

A few posters to World Connect Project have claimed that Eleanor was the
illegitimate daughter of William Dymoke and Frances Warren. The William
Dymoke they reference was supposedly born ~1532 to Edward Dymoke and Alice
Tailboys. Frances Warren (born ~1536) was supposedly the daughter of Edward
Warren & Dorothy Booth. Both the Dymoke & Warren family trace back to
English royalty and nobility. Sources indicate that Eleanor also came from
money, far above the station of her husband's family (the Whitbreads).

Does anybody know any more about Eleanor and her possible connection to the
Dymoke & Warren lines? Alice Whitbread ended up marrying Gerald Spencer,
who was himself descended from the famed Despencer family. Any help would
be appreciated.

Jim,

This issue was discussed here three years ago. Check out this thread in the
