It does appear that there was some relationship between Alice Freeman
Thomspon Parke and Gov. George Wyllys of Connecticut ...

from A2A (Conant MSS.)

Reference: DG11/331
Creation dates: 27 Elizabeth, February 4

Physical characteristics: Seal, red wax

Scope and Content

Bond: Ambrose Wylles de Fenycompton, co. Warwick, gent., to William
Tryst de Maydford, co. Northampton, gent.: in the sum of £20 to acquit
William of the payment and debt of £10 being the moiety of £20 which
was bequeathed to Richard Wylles, son of the said Ambrose by Jane
Coles late of Preston Capes, co. Northampton, widow, deceased.

_VCH Warwickshire_, 5:47-48, says, concerning Fenny Compton:

"[Margery (Beaufitz) Bellingham] sold Fenny Compton to Richard Wyllys.
Richard died in 1532; and his son William died in 1578, seised of the
manor and leaving a son Ambrose. He died in 1590, having settled the
manor on his wife Amy. His son Richard came of age in 1593 and died
in 1597, leaving a son George, then aged 6; the manor was then said to
be held of the Crown in free socage. George Wyllys settled in
Hertford (sic), Connecticut, where he became Governor in 1642 and died
in 1645, leaving his Fenny Compton estate to his son George ..."

Yes, very nice.

I see that the IGI has an extracted record for the marriage of this
Richard Wyllys and his wife, Hester "Chambrey," at Cropredy,
Oxfordshire, in 1590, exact day not given, but citing "Oxfordshire
Marriage Transcripts, 1538-1837, compiled by J. S. W. Gibson."
