The citizen family Dario had their house at the parish of Gesù e
Maria. They were originally from the Dalmatia, and since the 15th
century they were known because of a certain Giovanni D., who was a
secretary of the Senate and "bailo" (kind of ambassador) at
Constantinople, and in 1479 he ratified the peace teatry with the
Turk, for all these services he received from the Republic a possesion
at Noventa Padovana and from the Sultan three dresses in gold.
The Darios built the Palazzo di S. Gregorio, which had over the
entrance the following inscription: GENIO URBIS JOANNES DARIUS. This
palace passed to the Barbaro by heritage.
The Darios had many familiar and commercial relationships with the
Paolucci -a citizen family of "aggiunti" (kind of advisors). A certain
Camillo Dario married in 1766 Maria Gioseffa Paolucci.
