In Moor's "Knights of Edward I", p. 308, under Sir Vitalis Engayne (Sir
Viel Engaine in Leo's database), he has: His Inq. 3 Nov 1248. He held
lands at Gt. Gidding ... and Badmundfeld, Suff., wh. last K. Hen I gave
to his ancestor, Baldwin de Bulers, in free marriage with his niece
Sibyl de Falaise.

I am try to see if I can connect Vitalis to William I. Does anyone know
about Sibyl and whose child she was? I can't locate Sibyl or Baldwin in
Leo's database.

The source for my information is mainly the Complete Peerage V Pages 71-72.
On a page without numbers is a family tree going back several generations
( thanks for making me look there).

Baldwin de Boulers, Lord of Montgomery, married (1st) Sibyl, daughter and
co-heir of William de Falaise.............(I presume they came from Falaise,
if there was a VERY close link to William the Conqueror or Henry I, surely
that would have been given).
Parents of
Maud who married Richard FitzUrse
parents of
Margery, 50 years old in 1185, married (1) Richard Engaine
parents of
Richard Engaine, married Sara, Lady of Colne
parents of
Viel Engaine, of Laxton, Pytchley and Colne, married Rohese

Hope this helps?
Best wishes

Gordon,

I have the following:

son of:
William de Moulins=____. He was the son of:
Walter de Falaise=_____. He was the son of:
Fulbert de Falaise=Doda.

Walter de Falaise was the brother of Harlette de Falaise, the mother of
William the Conqueror.

My sources include:

* CP Vol.5, Table p.72, and Vol. 8, p.530.
* DP pages 418, 474
* DD pages 357, 359, 454, 925, 966
