was sieged by the Spaniards, and occupied all the maritime cities in
Apulia (Puglia).
An Agostino in 1525 was "luogotenente" of Udine, in 1526 "provveditore
generale dell'armata di qua" in Mincio, and "provveditore" in Friuli.
A Lorenzo, son of Agostino, defeated the corsairs of the Adriatic in
1547, and in 1577 was elected duke.
A Marcantonio in 1561 was ambassador at the court of Pope Pius IV, and
was a cardinal. He was expelled from Venice. He was a great writer,
and founded in Padua in Prato della Valle the so-called Amulio
College.
The Da Mula lived in the parish of S. Vito since the 15th century, and
in that church they had their tombs. Their palace was facing the Canal
Grande.
