Ah, in that case, Horatio thus likely was something
like don Orazio Pallavicini, Patrician of Genova.

it is likelier he belonged to the lineage of don
Niccolo Pallavicini (alive in 1154), who probably
belonged to the Genoese patriciate.

In my understanding, this lineage (bare as it is now)
represents an important Genoese patrician lineage with
the said name:
