Hi All:

I just noticed something on the national archives catalogue. You can
now add your own notes to a National Archive Document. Many people are
adding wills to the site. Its a bit like wiki. What a great idea!!!!

Perhaps you could give a specific example. I just did some of my
typical searches and didn't come up with any such annotations.

Hi Taf and others:

You can access information many ways.

For instance, from the home page tool bar under the heading " Search the
Archives" there is a sub menu "Your Archives" and you go from there.

Another way is when you found a record, click on that record and below
you will see "Add further information to this Catalogue entry on Your
Archives or see what others may have written [Go to Your Archives >]"

Also Your archives is searchable itself. E.G. search for wills and you
will see a list of wills.

For example
Search the catalog for these records
(1) George Brewes C138/35/48.
To find this record in the catalogue you must search for "brewes" not
"george brewes", then look under catagory C records of the chancery.
George brewes C138/35/48 is on the second page. Click on it, then click
on "Go to Your Archives"
(2) In the search the catalog page enter "PROB 11/1780" in the "go to
Reference" section and press enter. click on "Go to Your Archives"
(3) go to "Your Archives" sub menu under "Search the Archives" and click
on it. Click "All Catergories" under "Browse Content". Click on
"Probate Transcripts". There is alist of wills.
(4) On the left hand side of all "Your Archive" home pages is a search
tool. For example put "Arundel" in and search.

Kind Regards

Paul.

Hi Taf and others:

I noted this facility is very new and new items are being added all the
time. The first night I accessed it there were only 20 wills, the second
130 wills. If it keeps on going like wiki, it will be a great resource.

Regards

Paul
