It has been known that *some* Crewe, daughter of Thomas Crew, 2nd
Baron Crew of Stene by his wife Anne Armyne, married a Thomas
Cartwright, esq of Aynho, co Northampton producing that Ursula
Cartwright who m Sir Francis Skipwith (son of Fulwar Skipwith by his
wife Mary Dashwood).

What I had not found was the forename of Miss Crewe. Today I found
it.

Scope and Content Marriage settlement of Sir John Harpur and the Hon.
Catherine Crewe.
(i) Sir John Harpur, Caulke, Derby.
(ii) Rt. Hon. Anne Lady Crewe, widow of Rt. Hon. Thomas Lord Crewe,
Baron of Stean and Hon. Catherine Crewe one of their daughters &
coheirs.

Marriage portion of Catherine £12,000 and lands in Hinton, Northants;
Osgoldby, Lincs; and Chilton, Suffolk.

In consideration of £12,000 (i) agrees to settle lands to value of
£5,000 p.a. in manors of Repton, Stanton, Bredshall, Stanton juxta
[...] Pontam and Arlestone Swinfen alias Swinfield, Derbyshire; the
manor of Hemington, Leics; the manors of Allstonfield, Warslowe,
Longnor and Quarreford, Staffs; the manors of Rowton, Chistleton in
the county and city of Chester; and property in Chellaston, Milton,
Ingleby, Ticknall, Newton Solney, Twyford, Potlocks, Findern,
Willington, Oakebrooke, Spoondon (Spondon), Chadson (Chaddesden),
Stapenhill, Walton, Winsell, Brissingote, Meashall, Appleby and
Chilcote, Derbyshire; Butterton and Gawdry, Staffs; the advowsons of
Swarkestone, Stanton, Ticknall, Repton and Bredshall, Derbys and
Allstonfield, Staffs. and also his right to elect poor scholars to the
freeschool of Etwall and Repton founded by Sir John Port; the manors
of Caulke, Bonton and Wensley, Derbyshire and property in Bridge Town,
Alvaston and Ticknall, Derbyshire to the use of himself for life with
£400 p.a. reserved for Catherine and after his death to the use of his
heirs male and in default to the use of the heirs male of his uncle
Edward [...] Harpur, merchant, London and others. (i) also agrees to
settle lands of £1,700 p.a. to secure £1,500 p.a. to be paid yearly to
Catherine and fixes the marriage portions of possible daughters and a
jointure for a possible second wife.


Now having said all that, her name appears in the baptismal register
at
Saint Martin in the Fields, Westminster
in the baptism of her known daughter Ursula Cartwright (who later
married Sir Francis Skipwith)
