Hi, Gen-Medievaliers :0

(1) What is the *reliability* quotient of this pedigree/lineage chart?

Bill --
It is almost impossible to accurately present a topic as complex as
early medieval genealogy in little colored boxes. There are simply too
many "possibles" and "maybes" and often complex explanations needed
for such a format to be appropriate. The result is strange entries
such as "Marjory Dunkeld," who I suppose is an offspring of the Royal
House that ruled the Scots from 1034 to 1290. As my old military
history professor at Rutgers would have observed, if it does not have
(valid) footnotes, do not even bother reading it. A point-by-point
review of this chart would be very time consuming, and probably do
little more than spark a lengthy debate.

As with most such pages, it has a mixture of authentic connections,
probable connections, possible connections, dubious connections,
fraudulent connections, and outright howlers (e.g. Raymond II of
Toulouse as son of Heribert II of Vermandois). I would rate it
similar to what we see from most 'ancestor collectors', and well below
what one would expect from scholars.
