I received this message and no it was not from Peter Stewart

For reasons I don't need to belabor you with,
I probably will not ever send an email directly
to Gen-Med.

Re: Maud Fitz Alan. Mr. Richardson has mentioned
often in the string discussing which Robert Bruce was
her husband that CP, DNB, etc., need to be corrected,
but has failed to mention that he also needs to correct his
Magna Charta Sureties, p 733 entry under Robert de
Brus. I don't know if the same error is in his Plantagenet
Ancestry. On this same topic, G.W.S. Barrow wrote a
book titled Robert Bruce, first published in 1965. It is
in its 4th edition now, printed 2005. This is the edition
that I have, so I cannot address what is in the earlier
editions. Mr. Barrow states, "Bruce's father, lord of
Annandale and still by courtesy 'earl of Carrick' . . . ."
So it appears that Bruce family scholars have been well
aware that any reference to the earl of Carrick during
the time frame in question could have been to either the
father or the son.
