Throckmorton

Someone remarked to me that Sir Robert Maxwell Throckmorton, 11th Baronet, 1908-1989, was the last holder of the Baronetcy in his family.
It made me realise how little I had on that family in my system and as a result I have been adding to it.

The earliest one of this family in my system is Robert de Throckmorton, mentioned in 1252, source Arthur Meredyth Burke "The Prominent Families of The United States of America". Only several generations later is this family to be found in Burke's Peerage.

Just to see who the descendants of this family were I made a file (only 4,701 pages) and I was amazed to see how widespread they can be found.

For instance, only two USA presidents, Warren Gamaliel Harding and Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

Actors : Humphrey Bogart, Rupert Everett, Hugh Grant, Audrey Hepburn, Katherine Hepburn, Anthony Perkins, Rachel Ward

Of course the late Queen-Mother, Lady Diana Spencer, Camilla and Sarah Ferguson

Gateways

John Alston, Norborne Berkeley Baron Botetourt, Anne Boteler, Kenelm Cheseldyne, John Coke, Henrietta Fielding, Alice Freeman, Robert Gibbs, Catherine Maria Long, Lord Charles Greville Montagu, Rev. John Oxenbridge, Capt James Neale, Jolhn Nelson, Margaret Nelson, Rev.William Sargent, Elizabeth St.John, Dorothy Thompson, Leighton Wilson, John Yates

European aristocracy is also very much present. It shows so much how medieval families from one country can have descendants in many other countries.
