Dear John and Leslie ~
Nice work guys. You impress me as always.
Audrey Barlow possesses a valid descent through her 2nd great-
grandmother, Margaret Fogge, from Sir Geoffrey de Say (died 1230), the
Magna Carta baron, and his wife, Hawise, daughter of Richard de Clare,
Knt. (died 1217), Earl of Hertford, also a Magna Carta baron. Audrey
Barlow also has a third Magna Carta descent through her 4th great-
grandmother, Eleanor Aylesbury, from Sir William de Huntingfield, Knt.
(died 1221), the Magna Carta baron.

Best always, Douglas Richardson, Salt Lake City, Utah

======= For me it is so disappointing to see this one-eyed obsession with
Plantagenet and Magna Carta ancestry. This Audrey Barlow has so many more
more interesting and/or important ancestors, such as:

William de Ferrieres, 3rd Earl of Derby, crusader in the 3rd crusade
Robert Corbet who accompanied Richard I to the siege of Acre
Roger FitzCorbet who was mentioned in the Doomesday Book
Godfried I 'with the Beard' Duke of Lorraine
Robert de Caen, 1st Earl of Gloucester
William the Conqueror
Malcolm III, king of Scots
St.Margaret of Wessex
Gruffydd ap Llywelyn, King of Deheubarth
Robert II, King of France
Edmund II Ironside, King of England
Lady Godiva
Hugues Capet, King of France
Aedthelred II the Unready, King of England
Jaroslav I Grand Duke of Kiev
Berengar II, King of Italy
Olof III Skotkonung, King of Sweden, 1st Christian king of Sweden
Heinrich I 'the Fowler' Emperor
Charles 'the Bald', Emperor
Alfred the Great, King of England
Charlemagne

and many more.
With best wishes
Leo van de Pas,

Audrey Barlow, wife of William Almey of Rhode Island

Gary Roberts' book, Ancestors of American Presidents,
shows the emigrant couple as being ancestral to presidents
Warren Harding, Richard Nixon & Jimmy Carter.
I believe the latter two had no previously noted royal descent.
Ive already passed on a message about this to Gary.

But Leo .... those vast numebers of interesting ancestors are
mostly also ancestors of Edward III (and/or Robert III) so if
somebody gets connected to one of those two kings, they automatically
get a huge list of interesting ancestors. The "automatic" is
what is so important about say Edward III.
