Thomas Woodward, Assay-Master of the Mint (c.1604-1677)

A different tack this time:

I am provably descended from this Thomas Woodward (c.1604-1677), who was formerly Assay-Master of the Mint until his dismissal in 1649, and who later resided in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. I have documentation for this lineage (to Thomas Woodward).

I won't go into biographical detail for the moment, since such particulars may well already be familiar to some of you.

As some of you may know, Boddie was of the opinion that this Thomas Woodward was probably connected by blood to the Bacon, Honiwood, and Woodward families of Kent (specifcally George Woodward and his second wife Elizabeth Honiwood, of the many charitable legacies).

My question now is, has any further progress been made toward establishing this Thomas Woodward's immediate forebears?

I think it would probably be worthwhile to check the Alumni Oxoniensis and Alumni Cantabrigiensis, but they (apparently) cannot be accessed online (yet).

I have found two references to this Thomas Woodward in the House of Commons Journals (Vols. 2 and 6)--one definitie and the other probable (in my opinion).

The Visitations of Kent would also be useful, but (again) not apparently available online.

As always, any help or advice will be much appreciated.

T.J. (Terry) White

The Visitation of Kent is online at http://www.uk-genealogy.org.uk/england/ ... index.html.
