Subject: Re: Sir William Fitzwilliam of Ireland and his son-in-law,Sir
Thomas Browne
Adrian ~
Sir Thomas Browne's father-in-law was definitely Sir William
Fitzwilliam, of Ireland, not Sir William Fitzwilliam, of Milton,
Northamptonshire, Deputy of Ireland. If Mr. Wright misidentifed the
author of the 1558 letter, this may explain your confusion.
Dear Douglas can you clarify
Sir William FitzWilliam, of Ireland (really? surely his indentfication
should be a _place in Ireland_?)
and
Sir William FitzWilliam, of Milton, Northamptonshire, Deputy of Ireland
(1526-1599) who, as Adrian advises, spent most of his life in Ireland,
are two separate people?
Do you have further details about them?
I amn curious about these as, sadly for me, I seem to have knowledge of
neither. I can only presume that Sir William 1526-1599 is probably a
grandson of Sir William FitzWilliam, of Milton who died 8 September 1534. I
have that Sir William as he is an ancestor of Prince Charles,
as well as of Gateway ancestors Maria Joanna Somerset and Edward Hyde;
Camilla Duchess of Cornwall, actor Hugh Grant, actress Rachel Ward, Sarah
Ferguson, Ian Fettes, Lady Diana Spencer, and many more.
With best wishes
Leo van de Pas
I trust the added information has resolved the matter for you.
Best always, Douglas Richardson, Salt Lake City, Utah
