Fw: PA Correction: Fairfax

Dear Will,
Could this be a simple typo? The son was born about 1476 and it is his
father who was the Master of the Horse. Could it be that Edward IV (king
1461-1470 1471-1483) who was meant?
Leo

I just added this one to my corrections page, and I'd like comments on
whether it's correct. Thanks to John Brandon for pointing out WAR's
"Ancestry of Kate Middleton" which made me check.

Page 302 15. "...Thomas Fairfax...son and heir of Thomas
Fairfax...Master of the Horse to King Edward VI...."

The elder Thomas Fairfax died 31 Mar 1504/5. The younger one, himself
died, 1520/1. So neither of them could be Master of the Horse to King
Edward VI

A further correction on the death date of Sir Henry Curwen

Page 302 17. "Sir Henry Curwen died about 1553"

However this from A2A showing Henry was yet living 18 Apr 1588: "FILE
[no title] - ref. D Cu/4/29 - date: 18 Apr. 1588 [from Scope and
Content] Quitclaim by Nicholas Curwen of Stainburne esqr. to Sir Henry
Curwen of Wirkington, his father, of all claims on his father's
estate." --Contribution of Will Johnson wjhonson@aol.com 1 Nov 2007

Yes Leo, the wording wasn't clear to me which Thomas is being stated
to have been Master of the Horse, which is why I worded my correction
in the way I did. DR can probably tell us which one he intended. And
yes it *could* be that Edward IV is meant, although the text says
Edward VI. I have no evidence yet of whether that is true.
