Return of a royal line to Viguera?

In looking through some of the articles from _Principe de Viana_
available at http://dialnet.unirioja.es/ I came across an opaquely
named article by Cañada Juste that suggests an interesting
possibility.

"Lucubraciones en Torno a un Documento Milenario", Alberto Cañada
Juste, Príncipe de Viana, ISSN 0032-8472, Año nº 63, Nº 226, 2002,
pags. 339-344

In this work, Cañada Juste calls attention to a document from 1002,
under the reign of Sancho Ramirez of Viguera, in which a presbiter
Galindo "of Cordoba" makes a donation to Leire of lands that he had
accumulated, the grant being witnessed by his siblings Centulo and
Toda Sanchez, his "nepto" Sancho Garces, Blasco (Velasco) Garces, and
Blasco Jimenez. In these names he finds an interesting possibility.

The Codice de Roda tells that 'king' Iñigo Garces, older half-brother
of Sancho I Garces, had children Garcia, who died at Liedena, Sancho,
Fortun, and Jimeno, who fled to Cordoba. Cañada Juste suggests that
this passage south was due to the unsuccessful attempt of their father
to intervene in the regency of his nephew Garcia Sanchez I. further,
he notes that the patronymics of the presbiter and his kin match the
names of three of the four children of Inigo Garces, and that these
sons had families in Cordoba who returned north, and were in 1002
represented by these heirs. Thus he would make Galindo, Centulo and
Toda Sanchez children of Sancho Iñiguez, Blasco and Sancho Garces
children of the Liedana casualty Garcia Iñiguez, and Blasco Jimenez
son of Jimeno Iñiguez, grandchildren of Iñigo Garces and Jimena
Velasquez, granddaughter in her turn of king Fortun Garces.

If this supposition is true, it means that additional lines of descent
from the ancient royal family existed in Viguera at this time. If so,
perhaps a close examination of these names in the documents of the
period would be fruitful in further tracing this line.

As a side note, this document is several years after Sancho Ramirez is
typically shown to have been succeeded by his brother Garcia, and just
two years prior to the last known record of Garcia.
