According to some tradition, Alberic of Boulogne (born
before 1235, probably in 1220s), son of Maud de
Dammartin, d(c) 1262, the reigning countess of
Boulogne, and heiress-general of king Stephen of
England, by her first husband Philip of France,
went to England, and did not reappear to claim
inheritance after his mother.

Countess Maud's descent, except possible descent
through Alberic, seems to have been extinct at the old
countess' death in 1262:

I am curious to know whether English medieval sources,
which seem to be a major interest in this emailgroup,
say anything about Alberic and his possible
descendants.

I don't know what became of Alberic of Boulogne after he went to
England. It will be interesting to see if there is any information
concerning him.

His mother Countess Matilda II of Boulogne (Maud de Dammartin) was a
great granddaughter of King Stephen of England. Her aunt, also named
Matilda (Maud) was King Stephen's granddaughter, and she married Duke
Henri I of Brabant. From them are descended the British royal family
as well as the other European royal families.
