Is this the New England line? I remember past discussions of
Hotchkiss related to Cotton.

John:

Yes and No. John I Coddington thought there was too much time between
Allan and John Hotchkiss, the father of Samuel Hotchkiss of New Haven,
for the father of Samuel to be the John Hotchkiss shown as the son of
Allan in the Visitation.

I have posted several times with a line that goes through Samuel's
mother, Margaret K/Nevett, back to the Cottons and the Constantine
families. So far there is no clear connection to any royal lines
through the mother. If Allan is the grandfather of Samuel, then the
connection to Sir Richard Cotton leads to the Mainwarings and a royal
line.

Please see the archives under Cotton of Cumbermere and Hotchkiss.

You can see the lines on my genealogy web page under the link for
Henry Franklin Perkins or Jabez Perkins for only the New Haven
families.

John I Coddington left a number of files on his research into this
question as he was a Samuel Hotchkiss descendant. These materials are
now in the MSS archive at NEHistGen Society in Boston.
