This is the one that had been on display at the US National Archives
since 1984 (for much of that time, in the foyer near the Declaration and
page 1 of the fair copy of the Constitution). It is one of the Edward I
reissues.

It is interesting that it was once held by Edmund Brudenell. He was
ancestor of Dorothy Harlakenden, wife of Massachusetts Deputy Governor
Samuel Symonds.

No.

taf is misquoting The New York Times, which simply says:

"But later generations were apparently unaware of its importance. The
National Archives in Washington said it was "discovered" in 1974 during an
inventory at the family's estate at Deene Park in England. The National
Archives said it came into the family's hands through Edmund Brudenell, who
served as attorney general under Richard II in the 14th century, or through
Sir Robert Brudenell, who was chief justice of common pleas under Henry VIII
in the 16th century."

So, it is not certain -- according to this NYT account -- that Edmund
Brudenell once held this copy of Magna Carta.
