Interesting tidbits...

AKA Maud of Flanders.

Her skeleton was examined in 1961 and she seems to have been no taller than
50 inches.

Her husband, William 'The Conqueror' was robust, portly and about 70 inches
tall, based on examination of the remaining femur in, or about, 1642.

So, William was about 20 inches taller than his wife.

David C. Douglas, _William The Conqueror, The Norman Impact Upon England_;
Standard Biography; very highly regarded. Douglas began what is now the
Yale Monarchs of England series. (Berkeley, California: University of
California Press, 1964, ISBN 0-520-00350-0), pp. 363, 369, 370

William and Matilda were married in 1053, in the Cathedral of Notre Dame
d'Eu, Normandy, and seem to have had a very loving relationship.

They had about 10 children together -- and William seems to have been
largely faithful to his wife....

William The Conqueror has no known bastards that I'm aware of.
