Grimbald Pauncefote's tomb

Legg inn av Gjest » 27 aug 2007 20:39:09

This afternoon I called in to Crickhowell, over the Welsh border, and
photographed the tombs of Sir Grimbald Pauncefote and his wife Sibyl (?
Turberville), on either side of the chancel.

Both are a bit battered, and Grimbald's body is now unfortunately
segmented, but there sufficient detail remains to trace the
originality of each effigy, and the heraldry on his shield is still
visible.

I am happy to email these photos if anyone would wish copies.

Regards, Michael
