Ramsden Appleyard revisited

Legg inn av Sandra K. Snider » 25 aug 2007 06:48:40

Hello, I have just joined this list, and I must confess that I feel a
bit out of place. I am an amateur historian of the Thoroughbred
racehorse, and most of my research is centered on the late 17th and
early 18th centuries -- a bit late to be considered "medieval".

Yesterday, however, I performed a Google search for "Bethell of Rise"
and was led to a thread on this list titled "Descents From Edward III
For Ramsden Appleyard". There are a number of Appleyards who bred and
raced horses in the 1720's and 1730's, but I hadn't been able to either
identify or connect them.

May I ask contributors to the thread mentioned above to please come
forward with additional information? I am especially interested in the
Appleyard connections to the Bethells of Rise and to the Ramsden family
(are these the Ramsdens of Byrom or Byram?). I could also make good use
of more details about the Pelhams of Brocklesby.

I should perhaps make it clear that I do not live near a good research
library, which is an enormous handicap. It is my hope that members of
this list will be able to provide alternative assistance.

Cordially,
Sandra (Sandy) Snider
