Penelope Cave / John Creswell alias Wentworth

Cave on Stirnet citing BP1934 tells us that Penelope Cave, daughter of Roger Cave, 2nd Bart of Stanford by his wife Martha Browne, married a certain John Creswell Wentworth.

A suggestion that he might be that same John Creswell alias Wentworth who took the name Wentworth per his *great* uncles will should be discounted, imho

In addition care to not confuse Lillingstone Lovell, Oxford. with Lillingstone Dayrell, Bucks.

Nicholas Wentworth of Lillingstone Lovell married Susanna Wigston.
He died 10 Apr 1612/3 , she outlived him but was dead by 1621. They had seven children, among whom was a second daughter Susanna who married Rowland Wilcox, Esq of Lilburn, co Northampton and had two daughters who were co-heiresses.

One of these Elizabeth Wilcox married John Creswell, Esq of Purston, co Northampton and had four or five daughters and a son John. Some say two sons John which I believe may be mistaken.

At any rate, John Creswell, Esq died 21 May 1654 "aged 42". He was killed in a duel and a monument to him was still erected in the Church of Newbottle near Astropwells, co Northampton where it was viewed and recorded by Anthony Wood antiquary who died in 1695.

It was John, the son of John Creswell and Elizabeth Wilcox who took on the Wentworth name, and this son John must have been born sometime between 1621 and 1655. However Penelope Cave. could not have been born any earlier than 1673 and perhaps as late as 1704, her father having died in 1703.

More research needs to be done, but I feel that that John who married Penelope must be the above man's son, and not he himself.
