Using RootsWeb, I can trace both Gorm the Old and Rurik of Kiev back to
Radbart/Ráðbarðr/Raðbarðr/Rathbarth, king ofGardgarige/Garðaríki.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%C3%A1%C3%B0bar%C3%B0r

But RootsWeb stops/begins with Radbart. can anyone direct me to an online
source showing the line from Radbart back to Odin/Woden/Votan, which is
where I assume it is supposed to go.

thank you.

Blessed Be,

perhaps that's where facts end and myth begins. any line that does go

back to Odin will enter mythology at some point

There are some Very Large Databases in Worldconnect with this sort of
thing in them, as long as you understand that there's no sourcing or
any other documentation of the lineages. They're good mostly for a
laugh, IMO.

Yes, of course. But I do enjoy collecting such mythological pedigrees, as
well as historically verifiable ones.

BTW, on RootsWeb, you can trace the British royal line back through Alfred
and the kings of Wessex, back to Odin, and further back to Memnon of
Ethiopia (who fought at Troy), and still further back to Adam, who is given
as Son of YHVH. so, clearly, RootsWeb is not, in principle, averse to
mythological lineages.

Rootsweb as a company does not vouch for the validity of the files

people upload to it, thus anything can be put there. this is true for
all of the subscription genealogy sites as well

The line from Alfred to Woden to Adam comes from the Anglo-Saxon
Chronicle, which was compiled during his reign. It is fiction.
