My precious ancestry

Legg inn av Leo van de Pas » 16 aug 2007 05:27:03

There is so little to be found about my ancestry, this makes each ancestor "precious" to me, but about 40 years ago I gave up on my own ancestors as I could not find any more information. Why should that worry me when I there is so much to be found about other people's ancestors :-)

What I am actually doing at the moment is, with assistance, collect biographical information about medieval people. Every now and then I spot a remark which I would like to double check or ftry to find more information.

In one of these biographies there was a remark that someone's mother _reputedly_ descended from Lady Godiva. Then it became clear that it was not her mother but her husband who (at the moment) can claim a descend from her. Thank goodness, Will Johnson then stepped in and now, I hope, we can establish more correctly who is related to who. And if this means that Lady Godiva is to be disconnected so be it----no loss to my "precious ancestry".

My prior check was about Hugues Magnus and now, thanks to Peter Stewart, he will not have a wrong entry in his brief biography.

Spencer Hines waffles (what else does he do?) about his and others' umpteenth times removed ancestors, it will remain waffle until he spills the beans in regards to his ancestry. My bet is that it is all wishful thinking. Let him put a tree where at present is only his mouth.

With best wishes

Of COURSE...

Leo can't trace his OWN ancestors -- so he eagerly looks for the ancestors
of OTHERS.

Par for the course.

Hilarious!

Are you ready to explain your obsession with bastard lines? Like the
corrupt administration in the US today, you scream the loudest
accusations only to be guilty of same when the light shines on you.
The empty bucket makes the most noise.

Hines spends an awful lot of time cackling to his dumb fantasy
companion Victoria over nonsense that is claimed to be "Hilarious!" or
"as good as it gets" (how many times can this superlative be true of
anything?)

But any idiot - even a wannabe humorist who doesn't know how to be
funny - must realise that the usual course for people who can't trace
their own ancestors is to lose interest in genealogy altogether, not
to make a splendid work of it as Leo has done.
