Mediaeval Oxfordshire: Lovell of Minster Lovell

Legg inn av Gjest » 15 aug 2007 18:15:21

My final visit was to Minster Lovell. The large ruins of the manor
house stand by the side of the River Windrush, next to the church.

The item of interest here is the effigy tomb of William, 7th Lord
Lovell (d 1455). It too has been recently restored, so is in
excellent condition. In common with most other similar tombs, it
contains an impressive display of family arms. Luckily, there was a
colour-guide displayed in the church, explaining them all.

Again, if anyone would like copies of the photos, I would be happy to
forward them.

Kind regards, Michael

It would be informative if the explanation includes anything touching his grandmother Agnes Greene of.... someplace.

Sorry, Will - I did take a copy of the material there, and have
checked it, and while there are some references to the Zouches (and a
display of their arms) there is no mention of Greenes.
