Subscriber in 2002 advised that he believed that
Katherine Bulkley was the second wife of Randle
Brereton of Ipstones, and that she was a daughter of
William Bulkley (dep.chief justice Chester).

Other information provided was incorrect and confused
derived from L.D.S.

Fellow subscribers offered no further evidence, and
expressed little confidence in the L.D.S information.

The pedigree appears to be as follows (years given
approx):

1335: Robert (son) Robert Bulkley married Millicent
(d) (H) Vincent Alstanton.
Children: Robert, John, Ellen.

1360/65: Robert (son) Robert Bulkley married Isabell
Egerton (d) Philip Egerton.
Children: John - possibly Robert, Thomas, Joan.

1385/90: John (son) Robert Bulkley married Christiana
de Ripariis (grand daughter of Sir John Redvers and
(w) Maud of Devon.

It is possible that John married (2) Catherine (d) Sir
John Popham.

Children: William, Roger, Richard, Joanna - possibly
Thomas.

Richard was College Principal Oxford University.
(Bulkley Hall still stands on the High Street of
Oxford.)
Roger was Proctor Oxford University.

1420/25: William (son) John Bulkley married - possibly
daughter of Sir John Stanley. William was deputy chief
justice Chester 1425-1465, and died 1467.
Children: Thomas, William, Charles, John, Arthur,
Christopher, Maud, Petronel, Catherine.

1445/50: Thomas of Eaton and Alstanton (son)William
Bulkley married Elizabeth (d) Sir Geoffrey Warburton.
Thomas died 1491.
Children: Thomas, Robert, William, Jane, Elizabeth.

1450/55: Charles ancestor of Hampshire line(son)
William Bulkley married (1) Elizabeth (d)
William/Alice Herteshorn. (2) Eleanor (widow) Walter
Abaroe.
Charles died 1482.
Children: Robert, William, Arthur.

Some authorities claim that Charles Bulkley also
married daughter of John Popham without evidence. It
is possible that John Bulkley (grandfather) married
Catherine (d) John Popham earlier in the century.

Regarding Katherine who was the second wife of Randle
Brereton of Ipstones. This is possible.William Bulkley
had a daughter Catherine probably born 1420-1430
conceivably was ready for marriage when Randle was
seeking a second bride.

Sincerely Yours,

Paul Bulkley
