Would anyone happen to have a copy of Weiss' Colonial Clergy and be
able to share with me his entry for Rev. John Younges (Yonges)?

Thanks,

You're welcome.

If you haven't already seen it, Selah Youngs's book, "Vicar
Christopher Yonges, his ancestors in England and his descendants in
America", is available online at Heritage Quest. There is also a lot
of material available about Rev. Youngs's congregation at Southold,
including a census for 1698. Several of Youngs's siblings also came
to America. For some interesting material about Youngs and his colony,
see: http://southoldtown.northfork.net/History.htm

Then you read what happened to the unfortunate fellow who made the
mistake of criticizing the good Reverend.

are you by any chance a descendant
of the rev as well? are you interested in his ancestry?- Hide quoted text -

My children are descended from Rev. John's brother, Captain Joseph
Youngs.

Not very much is known for certain about the ancestry of Rev.
Christopher Yonges. There's speculation that he is descended from
Tudor Trevor.

BTW, and in case you're interested, Christopher Yonges's descendants
include Howard Dean, President Benjamin Harrison, Joyce Kilmer, Dr.
Alfred Kinsey and several film stars and entertainers.

yes i have come across the tudor trevor speculation based i guess on
selas youngs placing the tudor arms on his will - i may continue
research on rev. john's ancestry and see what turns up - i have
already located some documents in england that may not have been seen
by american researchers. if i make any exciting discoveries i will
post to the group.
