Recently, John Brandon mentioned the name Purbeck Temple. I had two of these, one being the son of Richard Temple of Stowe, 3rd Bart by his wife Mary Knapp.
We can see Richard Temple on Leo's great site
herehttp://www.genealogics.org/getperso ... 1&tree=LEOand also on ThePeerage.com
herehttp://www.thepeerage.com/p1010.htm#i10092Both sites show, that by their sources the birth information is sparse.
I will now rectify *that* without claiming to have found something new, only something that fills in *these two particular* sites information

Richard Temple and his wife Mary had most or all of their children baptised at
Saint Paul Covent Garden, Westminster, London
which register is online in the extracted IGI entries
For baptisms seewww.familysearch.org- IGI - British Isles - Batch P001571
and shows the children with their baptismal dates as
Richard 1 Nov 1675 (who became 1st Viscount Cobham in 1718)
Purbeck 12 Oct 1676
Christian 25 Jul 1678
Mary 2 Aug 1679
Arthur 6 Feb 1682
Mary 29 Mar 1683 (this is likely to be the one who lived to 1763)
Hester 7 May 1684 (who became Countess Temple)
Will Johnson
Temple Prime's "Some Account of the Temple Family" gives further
information which is not completely consistent with this.
Richard, 4th Baronet, Baron Cobham - an extensive account, which is
probably well known.
Purbeck died at Stowe on 5th March 1698, without issue.
Christian is said to hve been born on 11th June 1688; married Sir
Thomas Lyttelton and died 10th April 1748. She provides one of two
links in successive generations between the Temples and the Lytteltons
and is an ancestress of the present Lord Cobham. Could the first
Christian have died young?
Arthur left no issue and was buried at Stowe.
Maria (the 2nd Mary?) is recorded as having 2 husbands - Richard West
and Sir John Langham.
Hester died 6th October 1752; married Richard Grenville; ancestress of
the Dukes of Buckingham and Chandos.
Temple Prime also records:
Henry who was alive in 1702 and left no issue
Penelope died 1725; married Moses Beranger
John Matthews
