This might be a totally wrong guess, but ...

The Leetes of CT supposedly have a line from an Edward Slade of
Rushton, Northants. I notice an Edward Slade at vaguely the same
period living in Kimbolton, Hunts., with a wife Joan (nee Mordaunt),
widow of George St. George.

Kimbolton, Hunts., is not *too* distant from places called "Rushden"
and "Rushton," both in Northamptonshire.

Just a thought.

Edward Slade of Rushton seemingly had *some* ties to Hunts. ...

I assume the place meant is currently-day Diddington which is very
close to Kimbolton (both places are currently in Cambridgeshire).
